Last Friday, Sara Alvarado and I hosted Soul Play for a Day: A Spiritual + Creative Retreat for Women. What a rousing success! Thirteen women gathered for a day of SOUL PLAY. We were lead in our opening ceremony by Shaman Julie Hogan of the Spiritual Sanctuary, we discussed the meaning and roots of spirituality for each of us, we meditated, we ate a mindful + silent lunch, we walked in nature, we danced together, and we learned to intuitively paint. Above all, every single participant left feeling more FULL of JOY and with this comment:
Can we do this day again, only make it longer next time? This was SO, SO good!
Here are some other parting comments from our guests that day.
- It’s ok for me to take a day for myself and the world won’t fall apart.
- Look at all of the cool new friends I’ve met. WOW.
- I feel REAL for the first time in a long time.
- My crisis of confidence is over.
- The meditation was great. I realized that I CAN actually meditate.
- My choices aren’t so fucked up as I thought. Everyone has similar problems and it feels good to know you’re not the only one.
- I could identify with something everybody said today.
- I learned to STOP letting other’s people’s bullshit affect me.
- Every situation that’s really tough has a silver lining down deep.
- Just like the Lotus flower, sometimes you must grow through A LOT of muck and mud in order to bloom.
- I needed and so appreciate a day to just leave my problems for a day and just PLAY.
- Taking care of self and self-love…that’s spirituality.
And YES! We will be doing another SOUL PLAY FOR A DAY on November 7, 2014. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for registration details!
