Change. To say that’s what I have going on in my life right now is an understatement. I am so consumed with so many changes at this minute that I don’t have the energy to elaborate. Life has a way of throwing monkey wrenches into the best-laid plans, and the toolbox has completely overturned for me. I can sum everything up in one sentence:
Launch day has changed.
Monday is no longer the day. Due to several unforeseen circumstances, I must delay it. Again. Please know that I sincerely apologize, that I am beyond appreciative of the love, support, and patience you have shown over the past couple of months. And, from the bottom of my heart, I ask you for just a bit more. It’s worth waiting for, I promise!
The relevance and timeliness of the blog post below is uncanny. It was first published on this blog on September 11, 2012. I have pulled it from the archives as a refresher for all of us. Please read, enjoy, and most of all: stick with me through this season of change and we will enjoy a brighter tomorrow…together.
Much love,

There is so much change going on for me!
- New haircut.
- New back-to-school routine.
- New computer.
- New body weight.
- New trainer.
- New clients.
- New updated biz plan.
- New coach.
- New yoga routine.
- New brand of coffee.
So much newness and change makes me want to vomit at times because it can *sometimes* come along with a lot of added pressure, uncertainty, and anxiety. AND–lots of change at once can make you feel like the carpet is being pulled out from underneath you. Change–and the adjustment to it–is potentially scary, often challenging, and rarely a bowl of laughs. However…
TRUTH: Change is inevitable.
So the big old question in life becomes:
How do we WANT to handle change when it comes our way?
Here are 3 simple tips I have for handling change that work REALLY WELL for me. I’ve worked hard over the last few years to figure out these few nuggets of wisdom…and I’m oogley-googley excited to share them with you because I know they REALLY HELP. Simple. Effective. Powerful.
- See change as JOYFUL! Instead of dreading change and seeing it as a necessary evil, think of change as JOYFUL! Just for a few minutes, give yourself permission to day dream and play with the notion that change brings nothing but goodness, flow, and unending joy to your life. When you consider change from this perspective, what shifts in your thoughts and mood do you notice? How do you think that operating from THIS perspective (as opposed to the “change is dreadful” one, for example) might impact your life? Give it a try!
- Let go of the resistance to change. Last night we practiced yoga outside under a big, ancient Oak tree in Orton Park. It was magical. As we were preparing for our routine, my yogi said to us “breathe in the crisp, late summer, evening air and feel the winds of change around you…invite them into your life….and see what they bring.” I really latched on to that idea because I’ve noticed that when I INVITE and WELCOME change, instead of ignoring and/or resisting it, I find much greater well-being engulfs my entire life –mind, body, and soul. Ask change to sweep around you like the winds through the trees and see what magic you can bring about in your own life! One of my favorite quotes, which is printed on a banner that hangs just above “my little zen center” in my office says this:
We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
Open up to change and see what it can do for YOU!
- Know that change is your ASSET, not your liability. Change can be scary–YES–and it often does mean that we’re re-learning, re-tooling, and re-positioning, which can make us feel inadequate, insecure, and “less than.” In other words, change (and all that comes with it) can feel like a liability at times. However, learning new things, discovering new tools, and finding new ways to show up in this world ARE VERY POSITIVE ASPECTS OF GROWTH. Change brings about NEW POSSIBILITY, NEW OPPORTUNITY, and leads us to places and people we never dreamed of! Change keeps things fresh, allows for new insights, and gives us periods to take time and reflect, rejuvenate, reinvent, and restore. When you can embrace change as an asset, you might just realize how many riches lay right at your doorstep!
Change is inevitable, embrace it. Your life will be better for it.
