If you’re like me, one day you find yourself going Mach 10 with your hair on fire, full of energy and zest and ready to conquer the world, and the next day your energy is completely zapped and it feels like there are 200 lb weights attached to your ankles, dragging you down into the pit of despair.
This is the not-so-bright side of life. And we ALL experience it. You are not alone.
I am offering to you three practical, sure-fire ways to fend off the despair. For the next three weeks, I will offer up to you three different practices that can restore the energy and zest to your life. I encourage you to try each for a week and report your results in the comments below or on my Facebook page.
The next time you start to feel like you are being weighed down by stress and overwhelm, I want you to give this a try:
Option 1: The Candle Connection
Sit down in a comfy place, shoes off, all noise off. Light a candle. Stare at the flame for a few moments. Close your eyes. Take three deep, long belly breaths. With your eyes closed, imagine a bright, white light from the heavens streaming directly into your heart. Take three more deep breaths (big into the bottom of your belly) and really FEEL INTO the light. Let it wash over you. Let it calm you. Allow it to flood you with a sense of absolute peace and tranquility, if only for a moment. Next, with your eyes still closed, wiggle your toes around and FEEL the ground beneath you. Allow yourself to imagine roots sprouting from your soles and growing deep into the earth. Deeper. And deeper. And deeper. And deeper. Those roots keep growing down, to the very center of the earth’s core and soul. Say these words to yourself out loud:
I am grounded.
I am fully supported.
I am safe.
Finally, picture that same white light growing up from the core and soul of the earth and watch it (in your mind’s eye) fully envelop your feet. Imagine that light traveling up around your ankles, and then your calves, almost as if you are pulling a big bag up from the ground and around your body. Then, allow the white cocoon that you are creating around yourself to continue flowing upward around your knees and thighs. Once you’ve got it up that far, allow it to travel up to your waist, around your pelvis and groin area and belly button. Once it’s that far in your mind’s eye, use your hands and gently cupping that white cocoon at your waist, pull it up to your breasts, then up to your shoulders and finally pull it all of the way up around your head. Bring the cocoon together above your head, at the spot of your highest energy point. Know that you are now fully engulfed in the safety and brilliance of that white light. Within this cocoon, you are untouchable and nothing can hurt you. YOU ARE SAFE here.
Repeat as many times during the day as you need to, bringing awareness to the sense of safety and peace within that white cocoon. Your energy is pulsating within that cocoon, and you are protected. ALWAYS. No matter what’s going on outside of that cocoon, you are immune from it and shielded in the most powerful way possible. Overwhelm, doubt, and fear are OUTSIDE of you, not within you. You are safe.
