1. What’s going on?
As of the beginning of July, I am pivoting away from working primarily with other coaches on business building to focus my professional energies instead on doing more organizational work, with an emphasis on trust, relationship, and team building.
Over the last twenty (20) months, I’ve worked closely with a variety of companies, non-profits, and governmental organizations to create more compassionate, collaborative, empathic, and productive work environments—and I find this incredibly rewarding work. I enjoy interacting with others (coaching one-on-one can be so lonely at times!), I feel like I’m making a difference with each and every presentation I give, and I know I’m acting from my zone of genius when I’m consulting with teams and organizations about how to create effective work environs—ones that build trust, engender respect, and promote relationships that move people to be and do their best. My expertise in Everything DiSC, my experience with The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, and my credentialing as a certified coach and professional trainer position me well to continue evolving my company in this direction. See more below in point #5.
In the spirit of full transparency and being REAL, I also want you to know that in the last 20 months, I’ve learned that many coaches are thirsting for opportunities to learn more about how to build their businesses, etc., AND many of them are either unwilling or unable to afford the kind of professional assistance I offer. I am finding that this business model of focusing on helping other coaches is, for me, not sustainable. I’m burned out and exhausted of trying to make it work. And, as a business owner, you gotta know when to shift…and so I’ve shifted!
2. Will I still be coaching other Coaches about business building?
Yes and no. While I certainly welcome any coach to reach out with questions or concerns about running a coaching business, I am no longer going to be actively pursuing this stream or creating courses/workshops toward this end.
3. Will I still be providing life coaching for individuals?
You bet! Working with individuals on both personal and professional growth remains near-and-dear to my heart; it’s a mission I believe I was put on this earth to fulfill. To that end, I will continue to take a select few coaching clients on a regular basis.
4. Will I still be doing American Family Dream Bank presentations and other keynote events?
Yes. In fact, my next American Family Dream Bank presentation will be on September 21, 2017 at 6:15pm. I’ll be talking ALL about how to dance with your gremlins! And, of course, I continue to review other opportunities to speak at events and community gatherings that feel “right” to me, so stay tuned!
5. What else?
As part of the evolution of my company, I am now actively involved in assisting organizations (on a contract basis) with becoming “trauma informed workplaces.” You can read more about trauma-informed care here:
http://www.traumainformedcareproject.org
The work I do with DiSC and trust building is a great tool for creating action around the principles of trauma-informed care. I am working hard, hard, hard to create relationships with key decision-makers in relevant business and governmental sectors. I have a lot to offer these institutions on a variety of levels and could be of great benefit to their mission of becoming and/or further developing their trauma-informed environment. If you know of anyone who works at any of the following places (and who you believe might be advantaged from connecting with me), I’d love an introduction.
• public health entities, like the Department of Health and Human Services (for example)
• various state government agencies across the United States that deal directly with the public in any capacity
• university social work departments
• tribal entities
• social workers, psychologists, counselors
• police and fire/safety departments
• municipal and county service providers
• hospitals
• school districts
• special interest groups intimately involved with trauma-informed care
Onward and Upward!
