I love that December is full of spirit…the spirit of sharing, the spirit of caring, the spirit of giving. This time of year, we give SO MUCH to SO MANY. But what do we GIVE to ourselves?
This year, I challenge you to step into RADICAL gift giving by gifting something to the most important person you know: YOURSELF.
To “gift” something to ourselves is an amazingly radical concept. We’re not taught to do it. We’re never told to do it. We’re never directed to its importance. It’s not sanctioned. It’s not “normal.” It’s not status quo. In fact, doing so garners thoughts of selfishness, feelings of guilt, and an overall sense that we’ve somehow done something wrong by even considering it! Especially this time of year, when we’re so focused on others, giving something to ourselves is almost heretical. That’s what makes it RADICAL. So, I challenge you:
What will your gift to YOURSELF be this holiday season?
Feeling at a loss on what or how to “give” to yourself? I know. I experience this, too, at times. But here are five ideas I have for you…
1. Time. Imagine what an extra 10 minutes for JUST YOU each morning would do for you…blissful.
2. Space. When you have space, you can access your thoughts and feelings and fully come ALIVE.
3. Love.
4. Compassion. Learning to hold some for yourself is amazingly liberating.
5. Laughter. What’s life without a chuckle to make your stomach hurt?
You can give ANY of these gifts to yourself at ANY time. So why don’t you?
Imagine what your life would be like if you gave yourself just ONE of these things…? What would the impact be?
