Oh my god I am so having one of those days where all I want to do is scream out loud and tell everyone and everything to go away and leave me alone! Ever had one of those?!?
— There are too many people roaming around and in-and-out of my house each day (summer break is almost over—whew!).
— My adorable, amazing, helpful, love-her-more-than-the-world mother is visiting for two weeks, which is always a treat, but always adds a layer of “extra” to my day (extra what I’m not sure, just “extra”—you know what I mean if your mother ever comes to visit).
— My normally creative, seven-year-old, and self-entertained kid is bored crazy and is hanging on me as I try and type emails, giving me sad eyes and saying “I need a little momma love…will you play CLUE with me?”
— My husband just informed me that we no longer have dental insurance…this after I informed HIM that I finally got us in for that long-awaited orthodontic consult for our daughter (Him: Remember, we decided the annual premium wasn’t worth it, so I canceled it last Spring, Baby. Me: Right. Ugh.).
— My assistant and creative director, April (my savior and salvation), gently nudges me via email and patiently awaits my next blog article so she can keep her end of the bargain up, making my postings “happen” on time.
— My dog nudges my hand and wants MORE belly rubs.
— My cat’s tail is quivering as he rubs against my leg (his way of begging for food and…).
— My sister sent a spur-of-the-moment afternoon text: “Let’s go wedding dress shopping tomorrow!” (she just got engaged—very exciting).
— Client appointments this coming week are tight and plenty. Must get grounded and centered. I love new clients. Just need to find the time to prepare…
— Board Committee Chair Reports for the Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs are due this week. Haven’t even started mine yet. Where did my time block go?!?
— The vacancy in our Illinois rental property needs to be filled. An ad is up on Craigslist and the building manager has been alerted—let’s hope this one goes smoothly.
— Oh, and did I mention that this week-end I am double-booked with a wedding AND a camping trip? This oughta be interesting. Hopefully I’ll show up to the ceremony clean, in my dress, and with less than 85 mosquito bites all over my legs and arms!
There is just too much going on!
And so my friends, I look back on this list and you know what I want to do?!?
LAUGH. OUT. LOUD!
Boy, if this is what causes stress in my life, I ain’t really got stress!
Let’s look at the facts.
- No one is dead here.
- No one is in desperate pain.
- No one is going homeless or without food.
Instead, I have richness beyond belief, love in my heart, and a life that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
No more screaming out loud…just gonna lean back and smile, reveling in all that is mine in this world.
