THINK DiSC!
***How to work with the C style***
PROBLEM:
Your teammate is incredibly detail-oriented, so much so it drives you kind of crazy. She’s always asking questions of your ideas, and you find her to be THE BIGGEST skeptic when new ways of doing things are proposed. She is often the first one there in the morning and the last one to leave at night…and her perfectionistic tendencies are just too much sometimes! You wish she’d just turn off her computer and come have a beer with the gang one one night…yet she rarely shows up at Happy Hours and social gatherings with the team. How do you connect with her?
SOLUTION:
Remember, this teammate is likely a “C” behavioral style (her attention to accuracy, her to need to find the “right” answer, and her supportive-yet-introverted nature define her as such). That means she is incredibly quality-driven. She enjoys a challenge because she THRIVES on finding the RIGHT answer to a puzzle. She will do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if it means sacrificing her own well-being at times. Connecting with her means supporting your own ideas and positions clearly with logic and fact; fluff and cream do nothing for her. She is highly creative, exacting, and analytical…but that doesn’t mean she won’t say YES to having an after-work cocktail with the gang. Simply go out of your way to invite her, especially, once in a while and you’ll be surprised by how personable and charming she can be.
I’m offering a 2-day course at the UW-Madison on Feb 8-9, 2016. In this class, I’m going to continue this dialogue about C’s, teaching you everything you need to know to communicate more effectively and enhance your relationship with them. We will also cover D’s, i’s, and S’s, too, of course.
BONUS: I am going to teach you how to “people read” so you can guess the style of others without formally assessing them.
This course includes a formal Everything DiSC Assessment and Report.
Register by Jan 15th.
