Greetings!
In an effort to bring a little levity to the workplace this holiday season, I thought I’d share with you Santa’s DiSC style. Of course, without formally assessing him, we can’t be sure what his style is…but I’m going to lean into my expertise and experience and offer the following.
Is Santa a D?
He certainly exhibits certain D behavioral qualities like quickness, being task-list-oriented, and drivingresults(he doesget all those presents delivered by the 25th each year, after all).
Is Santa an i?
He is most definitely lively, charming, and an influentialpeople-person. He could be an i. And flamboyant…that red costume with that fur trim?? C’mon!
Is Santa as S?
He definitely leads with his S style at times. I’ve never seen a more team-oriented, giving, and collaborativeindividual (Hello 8 reindeer and ALL.THOSE.ELVES). There’s surely S style in there.
Is Santa a C?
He most certainly shows C priorities at times. I’ve noticed over the years that he checks his lists twice, manages to always get the right gifts to the right people, and is a master at gaining behavioral compliance throughout the year (have you been naughty or nice?).
Overall, I’d say Santa (like all of us) is a mixture of all four styles. Sometimes he leads with one style, sometimes another. There’s no “right” style or way to be when it comes to Everything DiSC. The key is to simply be aware of how you show up and communicate, flexing and adjusting your behavior in a way that enhances your relationships.
Enjoy the holidays and have a great new year.
As always, I appreciate you! Please reach out if I can help in any way with DiSC, Coaching, or team development training in 2019.
